If you want to wake up in a city that never sleeps like Sinatra did, then you'll want to book a trip to New York City - ASAP! Spending the weekend only provided a taste of what there is to do there - but in this blog I'm going to give you all my tips on how to maximize a short trip to the Big Apple.

After spending 2 full days in the city, I can easily see why so many artists are inspired to write a song about it. With museums, Broadway, all the food you can imagine, famous landmarks, nightlife, and (even an) amusement park - how can someone find time to be "bored" in a city that has SO much to offer?
"There is something for everyone in New York."
Well, put it to you this way, 2 full days was just nearly not enough time to see and do everything that one may have on their bucket list -- so naturally, I am already thinking of making another trip in December, when there's a whole set of other activities being offered (as if there wasn't enough already!). Anyways, if you came over to my blog post, then you're here to see what I did and how I did it all -- so let's get right into it.
Here's what we knocked off our list while we were there:
Friday
- Chomp on pizza & and chug a beer from the 5th floor of Timeout Market
- Walk the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan
- Watch a street show and grabbed a hot dog from one of the hot dog stands
- Pay respects at the 9/11 memorial
- View the One World Trade Center from a distance (near the 9/11 memorial)
- Walk by the famous Trinity Church and see Alexander Hamilton's grave site
- Take a walk down Wall Street
- Pose with George Washington Statue outside of the Federal Hall
- Ride rides at Coney Island
- Have a hot dog from the original Nathan's
Saturday
- Grab a 99 cents pizza slice
- Walk through Time Square
- Stroll through Bryant Park
- View the Chrysler Building from a distance (near Bryant park)
- Pit stop at the Public Library
- Grab Shake Shack or some oysters at the Grand Central Station
- Waltz around the Upper East Side and imagine living in one of the million dollar apartments
- Admire the beauty of Central Park while eating a soft serve ice cream served right outside the park
- Experience the nightlife of NYC at Goldbar (Just outside of Little Italy in NYC)
Seems like a lot for just 48 hours right? Here's how you can do it too:
First thing you're going to want to do is lots of research. Pinterest and Google may just well be your best friends. This will provide a solid foundation. If you have a friend who has been multiple times or who lives there, like I did, use them as a resource too!
Next, GET ORGANIZED. As daunting as it sounds, creating an itinerary or a list of things to do each day will help you maximize your time and assist you in moving through all the spots you want to go.
Speaking of moving through all the sites - my next tip is probably the most important one: learn your subway stations and stops in advance. After you have gathered the places you want to visit, get familiar with where they are located and what subways you need to take to get there. This will help you see what places are closer to one another so you can better map out which ones you can knock out on the same day. If not then use the handy dandy Google Maps, but *be warned* there's little reception at the subway station.
Finally, bring some cash with you if you're interested in street food (which you have to do when you're in NYC). This will save you time by not having to stop at an ATM and the fees for withdrawing from a bank you don't bank with.
One last pro tip: pack your comfiest walking shoes because aside from taking many trains, you'll also be taking lots of steps.
Feel free to write me if you want some more info on NYC. Happy to help :)
Xoxo,
Nurturing Natalie
